Linezolid IP 100mg Synthetic antibiotic linezolid (Zyvox) works well against bacteria, including Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and others.
It works well against isolates of Staphylococcus aureus that are immune to other antibiotics.
By preventing bacteria from producing proteins, linezolid stops bacteria from proliferating. Linezolid does not affect protein synthesis in humans since it differs from bacterial synthesis in both organisms.

These infections are treated with linezolid:

Nosocomial pneumonia brought on by methicillin-susceptible and -resistant isolates of Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Streptococcus pneumoniae or Staphylococcus aureus-related community-acquired pneumonia (methicillin-susceptible isolates only)
infections of the skin and skin structures, both complicated and simple, like infections in diabetic feet.
infection with Enterococcus faecium that is vancomycin resistant.
