Is Valganciclovir Tablets an antibiotic?

Valganciclovir Tablets are a type of antiviral medication. It is converted in the body to the drug’s active form, ganciclovir. In persons who have had organ transplants, it is used to prevent illness caused by the cytomegalovirus (CMV).

How long should you use Valganciclovir Tablets?

Valcyte is usually given in two doses twice a day for 21 days (three weeks). If you take this dose for more than 21 days without consulting your doctor, you risk increasing your risk of side effects.

How do you take Valganciclovir Tablets?

Valstead pills should be taken with food whenever feasible – see section 2. Within 10 days after your transplant, you should begin taking this medication. Two tablets, taken ONCE a day, is the normal dose. This dose should be continued for up to 100 days after your transplant. To know more click here

Is Valstead safe during pregnancy?

The fetus may be harmed by Valganciclovir Tablets. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, avoid using valganciclovir. If you are a woman, you must take a pregnancy test before beginning therapy and use effective birth control for the duration of your treatment and for 30 days following your last dosage.

Can Valstead cause itching?

Valganciclovir Tablets seldom causes a severe allergic reaction. however, if you detect any symptoms of severe allergic response, such as a rash, itching/swelling (particularly of the face, tongue, or neck), extreme dizziness, or breathing difficulties, seek medical help right once.

When should I takeValstead?

Treatment for CMV infection in the eyes is as follows:
Adults—
For the first 21 days, take 900 milligrams (mg) (two 450 mg tablets) twice a day. Your doctor may then increase your dose to 900 mg once daily.
Your doctor will determine the appropriate use and dosage for your child.

What are the side effects of Valganciclovir Tablets?

Valganciclovir Tablets have the potential to induce adverse effects. If any of the symptoms listed below are severe or do not go away on their own, contact your doctor:

diarrhoea.
nausea.
vomiting.
Abdominal pain, soreness, or swelling are all possible symptoms.
a burning sensation in the eyes
constipation.
headache.
a reduction in body weight.
