Meropenem Injection 1000 mg is used to treat bacterial infections. It works by either getting rid of the bacteria or stopping their growth.. Colds, the flu, or other viral diseases cannot be treated with this medication. This drug should only be given by your doctor or a direct employee of theirs.

Streptococcus pneumoniae should be treated for 10 to 14 days, Neisseria meningitidis and Haemophilus influenzae for 7 days, and gram-negative bacilli for at least 3 weeks. There isn’t much data; 40 mg/kg/dose IV every 8 or 12 hours is the most often reported dosage.

In vitro, models that compare the bactericidal efficacy of a simulation of 3 g/day given as three doses, two doses, or one dosage support the hypothesis that twice-daily dosing may be more appropriate than the suggested 8-hourly dosing schedule based on the pharmacodynamic features of meropenem.

Meropenem is typically administered as an intravenous infusion for 15 to 30 minutes (see sections 6.2, 6.3, and 6.6). As an alternative, intravenous boluses of up to 20 mg/kg of meropenem can be administered over around 5 minutes.
