Ferric Carboxymaltose Injection 1g/20ml Encicarb 1k

An iron replacement therapy called Ferric Carboxymaltose Inj is used to treat iron deficiency anemia (lack of iron in the blood) in people with non-dialysis dependent chronic kidney disease (CKD), as well as in people who cannot take iron supplements or whose iron supplements are ineffective.

When given as an infusion, dilute up to 750 mg of iron in a maximum of 250 mL of sterile 0.9% sodium chloride injection, USP, so that the infusion’s iron content is at least 2 mg per mL. This should be done over a minimum of 15 minutes.

A doctor or nurse can administer ferric carboxymaltose injection intravenously (into a vein) in a doctor’s office or hospital outpatient clinic. It comes as a solution (liquid). It is normally given in two doses, each separated by at least seven days.

Although your iron levels will be replenished immediately following the infusion, it may take up to two weeks before you begin to feel better.

Give modest intravenous amounts of iron once daily or as your doctor instructs. Large doses may be given as a solution over several hours and injected into a vein. By administering the medication more gradually, certain adverse effects, such as flushing and dizziness, may be avoided.

If 200–300 milligrams are administered, the infusion will last 15–30 minutes (mg). Most medical professionals advise against providing someone with more than 600 mg of iron in a single week. A person may be more susceptible to unfavorable side effects from the infusion if they receive too much iron too rapidly.
