What is the purpose of Tranexamic Acid Injection?

In patients with haemophilia, Tranexamic Acid Injection is used to control or avoid excessive or significant bleeding during dental treatments. An antifibrinolytic substance is tranexamic acid injection. It functions by preventing the disintegration of blood clots. Your doctor may decide to use it for other conditions as well.

Where is Tranexacan injected?

Before making a skin incision, 15 mg/kg of tranexamic acid must be administered, and then another 15 mg/kg bolus must be given every 8 hours after that. The final bolus dose should be given 16 hours following the first dose. Unless there is proof of renal failure, there is no need to reduce the dosage.

How often can IV Tranexacan be administered?

Every six to eight hours, administer 1 g of tranexamic acid through gradual intravenous injection (1 ml/minute), which is equivalent to 15 mg/kg BW. In patients with hepatic impairment, there is no need to alter the dose.

What are the adverse effects of Tranexamic Acid Injection?

When is Tranexamic Acid Injection administered?

The dosage is 2-3 TXA pills (1-1.5 g) three to four times daily for three to four days (starting immediately after onset of heavy bleeding). The dose may be raised in cases of severe bleeding, but should not go over a maximum daily dose of 4 g.

How soon does Tranexamic Acid Injection start to work?

The full impact of the medication can take up to 24 hours. Usually, bleeding is treated for a brief period of time with transexamic acid. When treating bleeding that won’t stop on its own, this medication is often taken for 4 days for heavy periods and for 7 days for other types of bleeding.

Tranexamic acid decreased the amount of menstrual bleeding by 40 to 65 percent in clinical tests of premenopausal women with cyclic heavy menstrual bleeding (40 percent of whom also had uterine fibroids).
