EMTRICITABINE; Tenofovir Fumarate (em tri SIT uh bean; te NOE fo veer) is a two-in-one antiretroviral pill. It is used to treat HIV in combination with other drugs. This drug isn’t a cure for HIV. This medicine can minimize the risk of HIV transmission to others, but not fully eradicate it.

Tenofovir Fumarate Viread Tablet pills should be taken with food or as a snack. (However, if you’ve been prescribed the combination brand Atripla®, you should take these tablets while your stomach is empty, which means one hour before or two hours after eating.)
