What is Azacitidine 100mg Injection Azzure injection uses?

Myelodysplastic syndrome is treated with Azacitidine 100mg Injection Azzure (a group of conditions in which the bone marrow produces blood cells that are misshapen and do not produce enough healthy blood cells). Azacitidine belongs to the class of drugs known as demethylation agents.

What is Azacitidine injection side effects?

Azacitidine has the potential to induce adverse effects. If any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away, contact your doctor:

  • nausea,
  • vomiting.
  • diarrhoea.
  • constipation.
  • sores on the tongue or in the mouth
  • hemorrhoids.
  • Tenderness or soreness in the stomach.
  • heartburn.

Is azacitidine chemotherapy?

Azacitadine is a cytotoxic chemotherapeutic medication. This drug is classed as a demethylating agent and an antimetobolite (for more detail, see “How Azacitadine Works” below).

How fast does azacitidine work?

VIDAZA is a long-term therapy. Treatment cycles are administered every 28 days for as long as your doctor prescribes. Your doctor may not notice a difference for several cycles (approximately 4 to 6 months). Your symptoms may reappear if you stop taking treatment.

Can azacitidine cause hair loss?

After the first or second treatment, hair loss normally begins. It is nearly always only temporary, and your hair will grow back after the therapy is completed.

Can azacitidine be given at home?

This medicine will be given to you by a nurse or another certified health practitioner. You may also be instructed on how to administer your medication at home. How do you give azacitidine?

To reach the intended dose, reconstitute the appropriate number of VIDAZA vials. For injection, reconstitute each vial with 10 mL sterile water. Shake or roll the bottle vigorously until all solids are dissolved. The azacitidine concentration in the final solution will be 10 mg/mL.

Azacitidine is a “hypomethylating agent” as well as a chemotherapeutic medication. Hypomethylating drugs are a non-invasive therapy option.
